To Follow God seems like it should be simple. To follow the Creator, the Author, the Healer, the King, the Great I Am, the Father, the Chosen One, the Source.....God! It isn't that simple for most of us. Along with God trying to get and keep our attention, there are thousands of other distractions that are vying for our attention as well. There are steps that we will talk about in the Direction page that will aid those things that we can do to try to stay focused. It sounds simple, but it isn't. That is what this website is all about. The tactics and strategies for developing and deepening a relationship with God is so important for a balanced life. All of us at times has experienced a hopelessness of not knowing what tomorrow was going to bring. For some people, that hopelessness seems to be never ending. A relationship with God can bring hope to the hopeless. It is simply the greatest gift ever given...a relationship with God!
This website is dedicated to people that truly want to Follow God. Understanding that ALL people are flawed and will struggle to stay focused on God is a critical starting point. We are all broken, some more visibly than others. Some are desperate, lonely, poor, wealthy, homeless, victims, sick and many other characteristics, but we are all broken. Being broken doesn't mean that there isn't a glue or wrench that can put the pieces back together; it just means that we are imperfect humans! We all make mistakes.
To begin with, let's try to get our arms around who God is. To Follow God, we have to know God. What does that mean? Just like any other relationship in your life, developing a "relationship" is the beginning point. The paraphrased definition of relationship is "connecting or binding together". So when you have wanted to get to know someone you were attracted to, you began a relationship with them. It probably started with saying hello, then possibly to the point of asking questions about the other person, with ultimate goal of “knowing” them. It is the same way with God. In order to begin a relationship with Him, you need to get to know Him a little bit.
An observation made by many people is “God is everywhere if you just look”. I agree. I also would say that there are many “Godless” things everywhere as well. It is important to know the difference. Knowing the difference will require an effort, but I assure you, it is worth the effort. The effort required is building the relationship with God. You can’t Follow God, if you don’t know who you’re following.
Please browse the Follow God website, it has been developed to bring a deeper sense of who God is and directions in following Him to a fuller, significant life!
